For a while, now, I have admired a certain little woolshed near where I live, featured in earlier posts that you can see here and here. Today I got to see it from a new perspective – from inside the paddock in which it sits, as I rode behind the grain truck in the fire unit while I was helping with harvest.

A recent trip to Charlton yielded up more enjoyable experiences not actually photographed, for once. But there was this lovely mill building that was worth a quick snap.

I loved the contrast between the original paintwork and the rust that creeps relentlessly over the panels of this old Ford Zephyr, laid up in a long-forgotten paddock.

The pleasure of shooting on the fly from the passenger side is discovering the occasional image that lends itself to a particular post-production treatment – here, I’ve used Pixlr-o-matic to introduce extra atmosphere.

My climbing rose, Aloha, is finally making progress (although not of the climbing kind) and putting on some buds. They start out a deep pinky orange, turning all shades of pink and apricot as they unfurl. It seems a bit unfair to tell you this, while presenting you with a monochrome image, but that’s life.

While visiting the SLV to attend a conference last week, my colleagues and I were privileged to be given a tour of the grand old building, including the iconic, perfectly-lit domed reading room (top left) with its ranks of sculpted swivel chairs and desk (top right).
