Sunday Driver: self portrait with landscape

Having started the photographic journey with 35mm SLRs, then a DSLR, before switching to compacts and micro four thirds cameras, I am still astonished when I see a photo of myself holding one of these as they are so tiny! And yet, so brilliant.

Solo (lemon squash soda) was the first soft drink of my memory…a visitor once came to have tea at our house and brought with him a glass litre bottle of Solo to share. Seeing the sticker on this machine took me back in time.

Fabulous Fitzroy: das t-shirt automat

Coolest “hole in the wall” ever – this old home on a busy street in Fitzroy, Melbourne, has been converted to a t-shirt printing place, also offering a music recording service (on vinyl – sweet as!)  The very catchy radiant stripes lead your eye to the service window, and you can read the instructions on the information boards as you wait.

Office of Many Levers

I borrowed the title for this post, as it seemed more fitting than anything I could come up with. The contrast of the yellow machine’s exterior with the view of the sky through the levers in the cockpit – the “Office”, as it were – fascinated me.

Spooky Old Cottage: the magic of filters

Since acquiring my Olympus XZ-2 compact camera, I have used the monochrome dramatic tone art filter than may be advised. It’s remarkable how a filter can influence how one reacts to an image that in real life looked fairly unassuming. This derelict cottage, while looking quite lonely and unloved, wasn’t so spooky – though no doubt it could, in certain conditions.
I used the Snapseed app to enhance the spooky atmosphere.
