Farmland, near Robertstown

image

As with the previous images, this was taken overlooking Robertstown, north of Adelaide, South Australia. It’s a beautiful patchwork of farmland, with undulating lines and homesteads and trees.

I’m trying out a new camera filter setting on my Olympus: dramatic tone – monochrome. It might be a bit overly bold, but bear with me while it takes over from my much-loved Grainy Black and White filter.

Perfectly Planned Park: time out in Eudunda

image

What a marvellous and unexpected discovery: a park with BBQ facilities, many tables (each located away from others, so families can share this space without feeling cramped by others), toilets, a war memorial, and – best of all – a “scrub walk” for the kids, with fun and informative tiles, activities, and things to find. I was utterly impressed by this community effort, which local groups and school had been involved with. Well done, Eudunda!

Out and About: Eudunda, South Australia

image

I’ve been passing through Eudunda occasionally for decades, on my way to somewhere else. Recently, while on my way to somewhere else, I stopped and spent a delighted hour wandering around the once-bustling town.

Tree on a Hill: high above Robertstown

image

If you take the Saddleworth road from Eudunda, SA (north of the Barossa Valley), then turn off towards Hampden, the road takes you along the ridgeline overlooking the plains towns of Point Pass and Robertstown; it’s quite breathtaking.

Moss, Lichen, and Toadstools: a return to macro photography

image

In the six months since I sold my beloved Olympus XZ-1 and committed to using the PEN EPL3. that replaced it, I have delighted in the PEN’s awesome handfeel, but lamented its lack of super macro – hell, I’ve not had any kind of macro! – but NOW I have righted my world by acquiring a secondhand XZ-2. It’s got some lovely improvements over the first model, such as a tilting touch screen, and a bigger selection of art mode filters; and after some initial hiccups with charging and the lens cap jamming the lens, I’ve settled into being violently happy. Seriously.
