Ready to take a photo of the gorgeous Art Deco era “teasmade” (an automatic kettle, set to boil and fill a teapot by alarm clock) in front of the handsome Kriesler stereo, a small arm shot out to park a cement truck beside the teacup set.
L-R from TOP: intricate detail on the face plate; bobbin winder; Singer 99; removable light; bobbin cover plate; motor; a century of sewing service; tension rings and needle assembly; poised to sew; machine number; needle viewed from rear; original manuals and lubricant.
Old sewing machines such as the Singer 99 (a scaled-down model of the Singer 66) are beautiful, enduring, functional machines. Being the little sister to the 66, this one was considered more portable – but it’s still incredibly heavy!
