In my part of the world, bushfire is a regular threat during summer. In the new year, fires burned out of control less that 20 kilometres away from where I live (and also, oddly), from my last home 400km away). This photo was taken a few weeks ago after the nearby fire swept through a pine forest. Fortunately, none of the homes in the area were damaged, though some scrub shacks copped it.
This weekend I’m attending basic training with our local Country Fire Association (CFA) so that I can make myself useful in case of fire emergency.
