Fulham Streamside Reserve: Lexia and the orchid

My mate Lex is a bit of a wildflower nut, and has been hunting around the local scrubs for orchids with a zeal bordering on obsession this springtime. And for this, I’m glad – and also for the fact that she’s happy to have me join her for an afternoon’s scramble, as on the afternoon we visited the Fulham Streamside Reserve, on the Glenelg River just below its head at Rocklands Reservoir.

Lex could probably tell you what kind of orchid this is – all I know is that it reminds me a bit of the spider orchids I used to see in the pine forests near where I grew up in South Australia.
