Goroke: junkyard findings

P7042404 collage

I love poking around in junkpiles for treasures – not because I want to acquire them (although sometimes I do), but because I love how they look: to me, they’re a kind of collection that can be just as appealing as someone’s actual collection of carefully acquired objects.

Take, for example, the collection of plumbing fittings (top left), juxtaposed alongside a rusted flour tin, or the tangle of old cable (top right) that haphazardly mimics the orderly tangle of pipes coming from the whatever-that-thing-is (bottom centre – sorry, not mechanically minded, somebody help me out?). It all comes back to that trueism that somebody’s trash is someone else’s treasure.
